Job Title: Cashier VC
Department: General and Administrative
Reports To: Service/ Parts Director

SUMMARY
Receives payment for service and parts transactions and plays a key role in maintaining or creating customer satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  1. Greets customers and determines the nature of their visit in a friendly and professional manner.
  2. Refers customers who have questions about the work performed, additional maintenance or repairs, etc. to the service advisor or other appropriate individual and schedules service appointments.
  3. Assists front desk, service, parts and sales departments with telephone coverage.

Process

  1. Receives cash, checks and credit card payments from customers; records amount received, computes customer bills, makes change and issues receipts to customers.

  3. Maintains and scans repair orders, rental forms; lists missing documents.
  4. Provides clerical and secretarial assistance to parts, service and sales departments.
  5. Works with department manager to keep abreast of new products and services offered, their features and value, and any changes in price.
  6. Enters data into computer on warranty claims, filing and printing of warranty claims.
  7. Checking in and out of loaner cars and keeping a log of the cars.

Housekeeping

  1.  Maintains a professional appearance and keeps the work and customer area neat and clean. Perform other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  3. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and computer skills.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
  5. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  6. Valid Driver's License & acceptable driving record and at least 18 years of age required to drive company and customer vehicles.

Physical Demands

  1. Regularly required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequently required to stand & sit & occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel & reach with hands & arms.
  2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles & wet and/or humid conditions.
  2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. (Use of ear and eye protection required when in shop area.)
